Change is happening and supported by the choices and actions we take daily. Regardless of how small or large, it all compounds together providing the make up of our incredible life. When you’re feeling stuck, lacking energy, or simply in need of a self-care pick me up, take a look at the list below and challenge yourself to try something (it is Try-It Tuesday after all). They’re simple yet significant, and they can empower you to keep moving forward on your health journey.
Eat light at night
If you’re really hungry at night, odds are you were under served and under satisfied throughout the day. Eat larger meals earlier in the day and opt for a lighter dinner or smoothie. If your body is busy digesting a large meal later in the evening, chances are increased that you will have a restless night sleep. However listen to your body and still do what works best for you.
Up your Gratitude Game
Starting your day in a more positive light sets the tone for the day. This morning I watched the sunrise before my very eyes (although it was slightly cloudy today) and gave thanks. Thanks to this one life we have and the opportunity and power we have to influence the outcomes by our decisions. When I give thanks to what I already have, I’m coming from a place of “I have everything I need to succeed already” and my only job is to share it with others. In this giving I am creating space to receive exactly what it is I’m dishing out. (I got spiritual there, but my mom is buddhist and has instilled this within me since birth). Give that in which you seek. If you want love, give love. If you want hugs, give hugs.
Green means Go
In addition to my new profound awakening on sustainability, green spaces support health by providing opportunities for connection, exercise, and social interactions. It’s amazing how being in nature or outside soaking up the sun can have such an impactful affect on our well-being. Go for a walk on the lake, or your neighborhood park (which by the way One Bennett Park is now open in Streeterville), stroll through a garden, have a picnic at Movies in the Park, or literally step outside and get fresh oxygen. This is your life.
